Turning Moments to Memories
Why book ME when there are so many Photographers to choose from? See ‘in-her-own-words’ feedback from a client that may help you.
I recently reached out to a past client of mine and asked her a few questions to help YOU out in case you had similar concerns and thoughts when it comes to booking a photography session for yourself.
Here are her answers:
1.When you were looking to hire a photographer, what were your biggest concerns?
Basic stuff as always (availability, location, pricing, yada yada). But the biggest of all was results. I wanted a particular look and shot, and I needed to feel confident that you could achieve that. Especially with pregnancy, if photos don’t turn out, we might not get another shoot. We needed to get it right, the first time. You totally did. 😊
2. How did I overcome those concerns for you?
Seeing similar photos really helped me. I think I sent you a vison board / look book, and it was wonderful that you were able to quickly show me things you’d done that looked like it.
3. Your favorite thing about working with me was…
You have amazing attention to detail.
You meet me at my dreams. IE, I have ideas and vision and you’re always game for it and a great advisor with a “can do” attitude. Of course, you’re incredibly talented, which gives me so much trust because I know that if I come up with something crazy and you say yes, I have total trust that it will turn out. The rainbow powder/flour was a perfect example. That was a vision I really cared about. You made it happen and had all the prep for it to be a success.
The prism was another example. I brought it up. You figured it out (NOT a small task!). And we tried it. But it didn’t turn out the way you and I had hoped. So you stepped in with post editing and the outcome was perfect. That last part is worth repeating – not only do you agree to bring my crazy ideas to life…you make it happen. And, if for some reason, it doesn’t happen…you find another way. That’s the ultimate trust. I know you’ll find a way. And the outcome is always fantastic.
4. What made me stand out from all the other photographers?
Before meeting you, your past work would have been my answer. It’s really hard to achieve these looks, and seeing that you’d done similar before was what I needed to pick you.
HAVING worked with you, the reason why I keep coming back is because of the above – you’re the most talented, dream-enabler, who doesn’t stop until that dream is realized.
When I want a family photo for a postcard, I’ll use my iphone.
When I want Art (capital A), I’ll use Elle.
There’s 10,000 moments in life when an iPhone will do.
But for those seasons and moments that are so substantial…when you go through seasons that define your life…when you need The Image That Defines The Era…it’s Elle.
Anything else would be dishonoring the moment.
Anyone else would be risk-taking.
